Projects

The projects in Tanzania include the construction of dormitories in a home for boys rescued from the streets and from abusive situations.

A boarding school for poor and disabled children and the education of Sisters, to qualify as medical doctors.

In Zambia, a hospital in Minga has been rewired and connected to the national grid, and Medical Training and essential medical equipment provided. A significant number of new boreholes have been drilled and old ones renovated, bringing fresh clean water to many thousands.

Many smaller, specific needs have also been met, including physiotherapy and spinal surgery equipment for Cheshire Home, a HIV testing centre, and meeting the cost of a life-saving post natal operation for a young mother, who recovered fully.

Careaid have undertaken to fund a schools water and sanitation project in the Zambian Copperbelt comprising of 9 schools with 6,700 students. Project Manager Bro Michael O'Donoghue from Tipperary has worked in the area for the past 20 years. Also a schools project in Eastern province Zambia. Both projects are born from Careaid's successful water project in 2007 when 15 boreholes were funded including Mizyu school Petauke with 2,500 students and 3boreholes at Minga Regional Hospital.
